Visit Bear Mountain State Park

If you could go to only one location to get your winter activity fix, it would be Bear Mountain State Park. There are all kinds of fun options at the park, from enjoying the famous ice skating rink to climbing the Perkins Memorial Tower to see an incredible view of the winter landscape below. There are also plenty of cross-country ski trails, as well, providing a great alternative to the downhill pastime.

Muscoot Farm

The Muscoot Farm House offers a full range of historic farm-centric events all year long, including the winter season. January offers a hiking program and a discussion of the importance of ice at farms in the past, with programs on the maple syrup making process planned for February. Check out the full range of programs and step back in history this winter.

Candlelight Tours of the Jacob Blauvelt House

Move indoors and spend a glorious winter night taking a tour through the famous Jacob Blauvelt House. During this visit, guests will enjoy a candlelit tour of the historic 1832 farmhouse and the grounds while learning about the Dutch-American holiday traditions of the 1830s, complete with songs and seasonal treats. The last dates for this season are Jan. 8 and Jan. 15, with space still available. Contact the Historical Society of Rockland County to sign up or buy tickets online now.

Puppet Festival

Winter is a good time to spend doing indoor activities, and there is nothing that children enjoy more than a high-quality engaging puppet show!
